About
Ever look at an old picture and wonder who it is and something about them? Were they happy? Rich? Kind of horrible? Pictures line our drawers and boxes in closets, yet in many of them, the people in the photos are a mystery. Many vintage pictures end up in estate sales, flea markets, junk stores, eBay or the trash and there is never a story handed down generations like in some families. There’s a name to every face and story to every person even if it’s a made up one.
Sometimes the picture and what is in it is our only clue to the time period. Other times, and supremely helpful, there are clues on the back of the photos. Like a name and a year, maybe even a location. Those are some good days at VFS.
Vintagephotostories wants pictures pre-1950. By submission you allow us to publish the photo and story online and in print. Can’t say that all the stories will be about love and butterflies. If we publish a story about a photo you provide, give us a link to your blog and we’re happy to give you credit for providing the picture. If you are interested in writing a 300-800 word story about a vintage photo we provide to you, send an email.
See your Grampaw? Is that baby you? Yeah, we didn’t mean to find a picture of you destined for the trash or a picture of someone you love in the bottom of the bin but you’re okay with the story, right? And if you aren’t let us know, we don’t want to hurt any feelings here, we just want to use some vintage photos and let the dead people speak through us (that is not acutally true, although it is speculation from a couple of readers.
